Founded in 1987, the Honors Learning Center
has had documented success for
thousands of students in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. The center's goal is for the students to gain
one full grade level based on comprehension skills. Students on average, have gained more than two grade levels in
comprehension skills after only 36 hours of instruction.
In 1998, the Honors Learning Center became Tennessee's first learning center
to receive accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as well as the
Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).
The Honors philosophy emphasizes the positive by rewarding students for success
rather than focusing on failures. Motivation and encouragement are the keys to their success. By eliminating the
fear of failure, the Honors builds the necessary foundation of self-confidence to allow each student to be successful in the classroom.
"We take our responsibility to each student and their parents very seriously,
as we help Honors' students achieve their academic goals while building more confidence
and higher self-esteem."
